Renewed
investor confidence in the Federal Reserve's stance
on interest rates and inflation yesterday, as the Labor
Department reported an unexpected drop in core wholesale
prices which had the Dow up 132 points.
Balancing
Income Needs with Estate-Planning Goals
I
have previously reviewed estate planning tools and techniques
to assist you in meeting your estate planning goals.
Any dreams you have of leaving a financial legacy for
your children will also affect the retirement planning
decisions you make. Money left in an IRA, for example,
could bring greater tax consequences for your children
than money in taxable accounts. In another scenario,
some retirees may find they could use their IRAs to
create a legacy spanning several generations of their
family, using a technique called the “Stretch
IRA.” If you have substantial assets in an IRA
and don’t need to tap the entire amount to meet
your living expenses, you may be a candidate for this
technique.
